Michael Lyons is a veteran of more than 30 years in corporate travel management. Beginning his career on the supplier side in corporate travel agency management, Michael soon migrated to the buyer side, where he has served as a corporate travel buyer/manager for the majority of his career. He has spent most of that time in the financial services industry, primarily with HSBC for more than 15 years, where he is Regional Head of Travel Services. A committed advocate for managed corporate travel, Michael has spoken around the world about the value of managed corporate travel and travel managers.

Carol Fergus is an experienced Director of Global Travel with over 30 years in the industry. She manages a global team and has project led several key travel related initiatives across many strands. She is extremely inclusive across her communities and a strong operator. Her travel journey has seen Carol recently appointed on the GBTA Global Board having sat on the European Advisory board and chaired the Diversity & Inclusion strand. In addition, she has held other Advisory roles, written and critiqued key topics in various travel magazines, sat on panels, steering committees and spoken at many industry events. Her many accolades also see Carol presented with several industry wards; Global Travel Manager of the year; one of the many….

Ryan is the Category Manager for travel at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) based in London. Ryan has overall accountability for the travel strategy sourcing & supplier relationships, operational and service delivery. Working closely with the security and sustainability teams, his mission is to deliver a best-in-class travel programme for all employees of the company.

Prior to joining SMBC, Ryan spent more than 20 years working in some of the largest oil & gas companies, managing the strategic sourcing and operational delivery for travel on a global basis.

Some of Ryan’s proudest moments of his career is in 2016 when his team at Sparrows Offshore Services won the award for “Travel Team of the Year” at The Business Travel Awards. A few months later, he also scooped the award for Multi-National Travel Manager of the year at the ITM.

Lee WhiteingLee Whiteing, Consultant in the travel and fleet industries

Lee worked at HSBC for 27 years, of which 15 years were spent in travel. For his last 6 years, he was the Global Head of Travel Operations. In this role he oversaw the creation of a global team and policy, consolidated TMCs and saw his team achieve outstanding NPS scores across all of their stakeholders. Under Lee’s stewardship, HSBC were the first global corporate to introduce hotel accreditation into their accommodation RFP. In April 2021, Lee started a new role as the Commercial Director for Global Secure Accreditation, focussing on the importance of hotel accreditation. He stepped down from the board of GSA in November 2023 but continues to represent the business, alongside other consulting clients.


Shaun CriscuoloShaun Criscuolo, Group Security & Risk Manager, Centre Island Hotels Ltd

Shaun joined Centre Island in 2014 and has over 30 years’ experience of which the last 18 years have been with internationally branded hotels across the UK. Shaun’s main areas of responsibility include risk management and security, to ensure the health and safety for employees and guests at Centre Island.

 

 


Howard Nichol Howard Nichol Director of Operations, GSA Global

Howard served 30 years in the British military, concluding as the Army’s Head of Counter Intelligence and Security. Specialising in Human Intelligence and Counter Intelligence operations against a wide variety of threats including hostile state intelligence services, terrorist and extremist groups, and organised crime, he served in every operational theatre, at every level of command.
